Eyes that Lie | 10.26.16

She could not see.

With her eyes.

They were useless as compared to most.

She could not see people’s intentions.

She befriended and loved without agendas.

So she could not see them coming.

And after some pain and disappointments.

She felt her eyes were flawed.

And no matter how hard she tried, she could not see other people’s intentions.

A weakness of hers, she thought.

And so she suffered, wishing she could see and analyze people the same way others could.

So she tried and tried.

And failed and failed.

Until she was tired

of trying so hard.

So she sat;

and became still:

Thinking and then

She remembered that for every weakness there is also strength.

That being different sets the extraordinary apart.

So she searched deep within herself,

And when she reached deep inside,

What she pulled out

was a sweet treasure;

She had not known that what she had mistaken as a weakness

Was actually her biggest strength.

A gift of foresight.

Eyes that could reach out beyond this world.

It is only when she stopped trying to see like everyone else, that she was able to

Embrace the beautiful chaos inside her;

 And harness her power.

Deep into the Darkness- 9.7.16

look-up-at-light
Picture taken by me, 9/7/16 “You are not forever in the dark. Look up. There’s the Light”

I often wonder if nature is a poet.

Painting a picture,

As it portrays a story,

Ever so symbolically,

Of lessons to learn,

Of things to come.

The character in this story,

Has limited view of what lies ahead.

A long dark road being enveloped in total darkness,

A lightning storm of conflict building up further ahead.

The character is faced with a choice,

Either turn back and run away,

Or find some bravery within him,

And face the chaos that has been waiting up ahead.

And as the character approaches this tunnel of darkness,

With unclear and unsettling eyes,

The poet whispers, “go bravely on, this is the way,”

And with a stroke of his brush, paints a magical rainbow high in the skies,

Above the darkest of clouds, to lead the way.

Thus depicting one of nature’s favorite folklore tales;

That speak of facing obstacles to find greater opportunities,

That tell us we must go deep into to the darkness, in order to find the light within ourselves.

The Hidden Path~ August 30, 2016

Picture taken by me at Muir Woods , CA 8.27.16

Why are we born with a feeling of emptiness ?
Even as children we feel this desperate longing to find happiness outside ourselves.
We walk through an abyss of nothingness,

Trying to get it.

An incredible longing to find true love.

Is it childhood conditioning?

Or is it more than that?

A feeling that drives us, that makes us feel as if though we are searching,

For someone. For something.

So we seek and crawl.

And we love, and lose.

And we learn.

And we keep searching, almost desperately as if thirsting for air.

So we love again, and lose again.

And then finally, through this loss, we learn there’s freedom in letting go,

Unlocking a key to a new self discovery,

A self realization that what we had been  aching for was always sitting inside ourselves.

That what we had always been searching for was our very own soul.

And had we not felt that unquenchable emptiness, we would have never been driven,

To find it.

To awaken.

Virtual Walls – August 12, 2016

I’m starting to realize just how lonely most people truly are.

Could it be that the warm tenderness we used to feel through human contact has been deeply severed;

Consequences of modern technology, which has intensely crated a false sense of togetherness.

Where we befriend people from afar without getting “too personal,”

Each one of them parading behind a mask;

Acting out their magnificent role on their glorious stage,

A beautiful theatrical performance specifically catered to its audience.

A virtual reality where we can no longer differentiate between truth and deception.

A dangerous story which could leave us vulnerable to unfathomable pain.

And so we choose protection by creating walls that enslave us.

Resulting in our no longer being spectators, but also now participants,

In the very same cold and disconnected world;

leaving us empty;

making us creators of our very own lonely world.
