Breathe – May 19, 2016

This song stirs up so many memories of my childhood.

The memory starts with a 4 year old me holding this antique wooden jewelry box.  The box is rectangular and hand painted in an egg shell color with a soft touch of pastel colored flowers on it.  I inhale and exhale the beauty of the hand made jewelry box, and I breathe.

When the box is opened, a soft piano style melody starts playing, and I see a tiny ballerina doll at center back part of an inner stage. The ballerina is gracefully doing slow pirouettes to the tranquil ballad, and I breathe.

As I open this box and revere the doll as she dances, I see faces of my past, people I have loved and lost; those which remain as only a faint but loving memory, and I breathe.

I see them smiling at me, and I smile back.  Only to know that they are neither here, nor there, and I breathe.

As the music continues, I hear the ocean waves creeping up to kiss the shoreline, and then feel it swiftly rushing away, as if in a dance, over and over again, washing away the memories, in a final act of asking ever so softly, that I finally let them go, and I breathe.

This memory which reminded me so much of the jewelry box’s melody, was inspired by a beautiful song, that for me, was about letting.  The song is called “breathe – 528HZ”:
